Clifford Odets' Golden Boy was first produced in the 1930's during the Great Depression by the legendary Group Theater which brought method acting to America. The Groups first play, Golden Boy was later made into a movie and a musical. The play is the story of a young immigrant torn between his love of the violin and the money that can be made becoming a champion boxer. It is an American story about who we are to become in the land of dreams.
